The Polish Association for Canadian Studies (PACS) was established on the 17th of April 1998 at the first Congress of Polish Canadianists held at the University of Warsaw.
The first president of the organization was Prof. Anna Reczyńska, head of the Chair for Canadian Studies (Jagiellonian University, Kraków).
